In this season of Thanksgiving I am taking a moment to reflect on what I am thankful for. Here are just a few things.
Salvation - I am thankful that Christ died on the cross for me, when at any time he could have said "This is not worth it, I'm done". But he willingly stayed up on that cross and gave his life for me. Christ said I am worth it. He loves me that much! I know that in no way do I deserve it. Some of you know that I tend to be a worry wart (and I am working on that!) but one thing I never have to worry about or question is about my salvation. I know that when it's my time, He will take me home to live with him forever. I am looking forward to that and being reunited with my Grandpa. I miss him very much and am sad that he never got the chance to get to know my kids or be there for my sister's wedding. But I am looking forward to seeing him again in
Heaven.
My Husband - I am thankful for such a loving husband. He is the best! He stands beside me know matter what. We have been through a lot together. Things have not always been easy, but I know he is in it for the long haul. He knows me very well. (Sometimes I think he knows me better than I know myself) His support means so much to me. I know that no matter what is going on around us that I can count on him. I am thankful for his strength, love, and humor. I love that he can be silly and have that child's heart. It is so much fun to see the
excitement in his eyes every time we go to Disneyland or
DisneyWorld. He is transformed into a kid again.
My kids - It was a long, hard wait for them. I went
thru many times of
sadness when I saw people around me getting pregnant and I wasn't. Or hearing about kids getting abused or aborted, when I wanted so badly just to have one. Many times I cried out to God asking "Why do these things happen? Will I ever have a baby?" I am thankful to those who helped me
thru that time and picked me up again and again. I think that it makes me even more thankful to have the kids that I do. My kids bring me so much joy and happiness. I love to see them grow and learn new things. Although it is going way to fast. Right now I'm just trying to soak up every minute of them. I am truly blessed to have been given this family.
My family - I am blessed to have most of my family living close to me. (I wish those who live in other places could be closer so I could see them more. But if they are happy there then I'm
ok with that) I love to be able to see my family easily. I have friends that their families are not close to them and don't have as easy of access to them as I do my family. Sometimes I take that for granted. I am very blessed to have my Mom so close and so willing to help out with the kids. She comes every Wednesday and watches the kids for a few hours so I can go to Ladies Bible Study/Lunch. I look forward to Wednesdays for just a little time of being Heidi and not Mom. My mom also takes the kids for sleepovers, watches them when I have appointments or need to run a bunch of errands. I know that things would be more challenging if I didn't have my mom helping out. I am very grateful for that. And I am also grateful for my parents example. Growing up I had many many friends who's parents were divorced. I am thankful that I never had to go
thru that and knew that when my parents said "till death do us part" that they
meant it. Thanks Mom and Dad!! I love you!!
My friends - I have been blessed with great friends. But they are more than that. They are family to me. I just love to be around them! I know that I can laugh, play, share, cry or even just be quiet with them and it's
ok. (yes I know I'm not quiet often, but when I want to be, I can ) I don't have to worry about them judging me. I can just be myself. My friends love me so much that they are even willing to tell me things that I don't want to hear, but need to hear. They cry with me in the sad times and rejoice with me in the good times. They pick me up when I fall and bring me back down to earth when needed. They will always have a special place in my heart. I love you guys!!!
Those are just a few of the things I am thankful for. I could keep going on but for now I'll stop. Maybe in the next few days I'll post some more things. I have many things to be thankful for. I am thankful to God for providing me with so many blessings!!
